One of the music industry’s vocal powerhouses has just made a new album to bless our ears. That’s right, Demi Lovato has released a new album! Coming back to pop after releasing her punk rock album HOLY FVCK, our DJ Lovato guides us as we dance to the electronic, sweat-inducing, and club-savvy music. Though it is not introducing anything new to the pop genre, or challenging any opinions or making you think deeply, that seems to be the point. Her new album is called It’s Not That Deep, after all. Let’s dive a little deeper into our favorite songs from the album!

Number Five
Let’s start with the second song on the album: “Here All Night“. Now, we have covered this song previously, but it’s just that addictive to listen to. It’s a synth-heavy track and a playful breakup song. Lovato’s vocals shine in the song, as they usually do. It’s very carefree and finds joy in the simple pleasures of life. In it, Lovato is heartbroken but is not going to wallow in her sorrows. It’s about going to the club filled with music that washes away the pain for a few hours.
Number Four
“Before I Knew You” is the tenth song on the album and makes its mark as a pop ballad of sorts. Lovato is singing about falling for someone who changed her, and it wasn’t for the better. The relationship changed her in ways that left marks and scars. It makes us feel as if we’re looking back and realizing you lost so much of yourself trying to love another. This starts light and soft like a fairy tale come to life, and then continues to build. It fills us with an ache in our hearts. It has to be one of the most emotional songs on the album that resonates with sadness.

Number Three
“Say It” is pure dance floor energy. It starts as this lighter, almost acoustic pop song, something that resembles early Lovato. It talks about wanting to hear the other person say, “I love you,” even if you already know they do. It’s seeking attention and affection from a partner. It has sexy synths, and its catchy hook makes it perfect to pre-game or for the club itself.
Number Two
“Sorry to Myself” is like writing an apology letter to yourself, or making a self-promise. Lovato doesn’t hold back when she gets honest about being her worst critic. This is about how we neglect ourselves while searching for that attention and validation from another. It starts like you’re discovering something new to yourself, with its grand, sci-fi-like intro. Then, it turns into a pulse of truth with a synth beat in the background. It’s Lovato showing us how much she’s grown both as a persona and in her art.
Number One
And for number one…”Ghost“! It is bittersweet as it talks of the fear of losing someone who means the world to you. This has some acoustic parts, such as the intro. It shows off her emotional portrayal of the grief and heaviness of worry. She sings about wanting to hold on even after death, that she would rather be haunted by that loved one than for them to disappear. It’s a beautiful mix of melancholy and wonder, a story of how love can stay with you forever.

Those are some of our favorites, so give them a listen and see if they are yours too! Lovato has also revealed a North American tour set for 2026. Here are the dates, so don’t miss out on your chance to see her in concert!
