Autumn is in full swing, and we couldn’t be more excited! Leaves are changing and there is a nip in the air. It’s absolutely perfect. If you are in North Carolina or just looking for a great place to celebrate Fall, Raleigh, NC is a great city to experience all that autumn has to offer. There are farms and parks that offer fall activities, there is the state fair which everyone needs to experience at least once, and their wonderful places to eat, drink, and cheers to the season!
Experience Fall in Raleigh
North Carolina State Fair
The North Carolina State Fair is an absolute must do if you are in Raleigh between October 18 and October 27. If you are looking for food, look no further. The state fair has over 30 different vendors, each with their own menu of delicious snacks and meals. Not only does the state fair have incredible food, but they also have a flower and garden show, carnival rides, monster truck racing, and many more attractions. If you do only one thing in Raleigh this fall, make sure it’s the North Carolina State Fair.
DJ’s Berry Patch
DJ’d Berry Patch is a family-owned farm located in Apex, NC that has exciting offerings for every season. During the spring and the summer, you can pick strawberries and other seasonal produce. In the winter, they sell garlands and Christmas wreaths. During the fall, they grow and sell their own mums as well as their own pumpkins. In their pumpkin patch, you can find both decorative and baking pumpkins in all different sizes. Their market has some autumn favorites like apples, gourds, sweet potatoes, to name a few.
Chapel of Bones Coffee Shop
If you are looking for a spooky place to grab a coffee or cocktail, and maybe even see live music, Chapel of Bones in Raleigh is the place for you. Covered in skulls, this unique coffee shop not only hosts live music but also burlesque shows, independent film screenings, and alternative dance parties.
William B. Umstead State Park
William B. Umstead State Park is gorgeous during the autumn months. The changing leaves make for a breathtaking hike or bicycle ride. The crisp air of North Carolina (not too cold, not too hot) feels amazing while taking in the beauty of nature. In addition to hiking and bike riding, the park offers horseback riding, paddling, fishing, picnicking, and camping grounds.
Phillips Farm
Having been an average family farm for years, Phillips Farm of Cary, North Carolina has reinvented itself as a family park with all kinds of activities and special events. During the fall they offer wagon rides, a seven-acre corn maze, a sunflower field, roller races, mini golf, slides toddler town, corn hole, petting zoos, and so much more. Plus, on Friday and Saturday nights the corn maze becomes a haunted corn maze with exhibits like Field of Lost Souls and Gore House.
Hurricane Helene tore through North Carolina, destroying entire towns and displacing countless people. While Raleigh was very lucky to have not been hit, the rest of North Carolina needs help. Please consider donating to the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund.
