For most of us growing up in the early 2000s, the three words “Me & U” instantly made us think of the R&B hit from 2006. Cassie Ventura, widely known as just “Cassie”, was one of the it girls during the 2000s. With her beauty and smooth choreography, she was compared to Aaliyah throughout her career because of their similar music styles.
Unfortunately, with the current Diddy trials going on, people are either forgetting her music career altogether or are just now being introduced to her because of the negative allegations centered around Diddy. Ventura has been around long before Diddy’s impact on her, and deserves the recognition for all of her success and musical achievements before all the Diddy drama came crashing down on her image.
Born on August 26th, 1986, in Connecticut, Ventura entered the entertainment industry at an early age, modeling at just 14 years old. From there, Ventura immediately started expanding her talent to music and acting. She starred in Mario’s “Just a Friend 2002” and even tried her hand at acting in Step Up 2: The Streets.
Me & U Success
Still to this day, this is one of her biggest hits and what most people know her by. This R&B style catapulted Ventura into fame and everyone was infatuated with her dancing style and persona. The choreography was behind countless living room dance sessions with little girls everywhere trying to be just like Cassie.
Collabing With Lil Wayne
Snowballing into more success, Ventura collabed with Lil Wayne in 2008 for their hit “Official Girl”. Partnering with a popular rapper, fans got to see a different side to Cassie and realized she had much more range than the average R&B or Pop girl.
Teaming Up With Nicki Minaj
Another major accomplishment for Ventura was surprising us all with a collab with none other than Nicki Minaj, one of the biggest female rappers out there. The two girls released “The Boys” and both fandoms went crazy back in 2012.
Motherhood

Apart from her musical talents and hit songs, Ventura is now a mother and wife with a beautiful family. Ventura is married to Alex Fine and has three children. The two met in 2018 and have been married since 2019.
Ventura is so much more than the alleged trauma and abuse she suffered from Diddy, and she has years of creativity and music to show for it. Ventura is proud to stand up for what’s right and has released a statement on her thoughts of being a victim of domestic abuse:
