Brat summer goes out with a bang with the release of Charli XCX’s highly anticipated brat remix album. Titled brat, and it’s completely different but also still brat, the album features new remixes and features of every single song from the original record, with an A-list cast of artists.
Charli XCX’s album brat has undeniably ruled the summer of 2024, with the album’s aesthetic, music, and ideas consuming pop culture. Charli has carried the momentum with a US Tour with Troye Sivan, called the Sweat tour, where the two artists energetically share the spotlight, trading off song after song.
Ever since the release of brat, Charli has been dropping remixes of some of the album’s most popular songs with features from her famous friends. While her remix of “Von Dutch” featuring A.G Cook and Addison Rae was well received, the remix of “girl, so confusing” with Lorde was truly earth-shattering. The song, originally about Lorde, now allows the pop star to respond to Charli’s conflicted feelings about her, allowing the two to “work it out on the remix” and overcome their long-term awkwardness.
Charli then dropped the “guess” remix, featuring Billie Eilish, who is hot off the heels of her new album, HIT ME HARD AND SOFT. The remix drummed up excitement as Eilish rarely does features, and the song featured her blatantly flirting with Charli.
Finally, the day before the Brat remix album was announced, Charli dropped a remix of “talk talk” featuring Troye Sivan, who would be co-headlining with Charli for the Sweat tour. The remix later became the closing song for the concert.
Charli began the official rollout for the album by putting up billboards of different artists’ names in backward “brat font” text in each performer’s home city. While this gave fans a glimpse into the features of the album, there were plenty of fake billboards making rounds on the internet, leading to some confusion until Charli dropped the full tracklist.
Including artists from a variety of genres, the brat remix album features Ariana Grande, Bon Iver, The 1975, Caroline Polachek, and Julian Casablancas (of The Strokes fame). The new album has received mixed reactions from fans, as Charli changed a strong portion of the instrumental, and even some of the lyrics to each song. For some fans, this took away what they loved about the project in the first place. For others, this is what remix albums are all about.

Following the release of the record, Charli is still not done. Earlier last week, she released a new remix of the fan-favorite brat bonus track, “Spring Breakers” featuring Kesha. Kesha joined Charli and Troye Sivan on stage at the LA stop of the Sweat Tour, where she performed the “Spring Breakers” remix, along with her signature hit “TiK ToK”.
