A new docuseries by Discovery+ was released on Max on June 21. The series Taylor Swift vs. Scooter Braun: Bad Blood is about record-breaking artist Taylor Swift and her feud with music manager Scooter Braun, who announced his retirement this month from music management after 23 years.

The two-part documentary has two episodes: one from Swift’s perspective, and the other with Braun’s argument. The drama surrounds Swift’s re-recording of her first six albums, which she claims she did because she could not buy the master recordings of the original albums. Braun, however, says his purchase of the recordings was legally allowed, and Swift’s fanbase hurt his career.
While the series does not feature input from either star directly, the studio used clips from awards and interviews with Swift and Braun, including Swift’s speech at the Billboard Women in Music Awards.
This two-sided story also includes interviews with reporters, journalists, fans, a culture theorist, and Swift’s personal attendant from her 1989 Tour. Both episodes begin with background on Swift and Braun, explaining more of their family backgrounds and characters.
I’m watching Taylor Swift vs. Scooter Braun and Scooter’s main defense appears to be “but it was a BUSINESS DEAL, it was LEGAL.”

Yeah, that wasn’t the problem. Artists should own their masters, especially when they’ve reached that level of success. pic.twitter.com/CIMO8qzSvi
Before the series was released, fans expressed skepticism that the series was not endorsed by Swift herself. However, some fans watched the series anyway and still supported the artist.
Braun announced his retirement from music management on June 16 with several Instagram posts captioned “23 years.” The announcement came just five days before the release of the docuseries. In an Instagram post on June 17, Braun said he will be taking on the CEO role at Hybe America and must be “a father first, a CEO second, and a manager no more.” Braun has three kids, who he called his “superstars.”
Some Swift fans believe the artist purposefully performed a diss track mashup of “I Forgot That You Existed” and “This is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things” to celebrate Braun’s retirement. Swift was performing in Cardiff, Wales on June 18.

One user commented, “Happy Birthday Scooter,” as the music manager’s birthday coincided with Swift’s Cardiff performance. Another user wrote, “That laugh was so genuine, I love that for her.”
While fans continue to speculate, the end of the docuseries included a statement from Team Swift, which said Swift “has completely moved on from this saga.”
