After years of waiting since Avengers: Endgame in 2019, the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday is finally in front of our eyes.
After premiering exclusively at CinemaCon in April, the full Doomsday trailer is now publicly available. It connects nearly every major hero in the Marvel Universe within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), something fans have wanted for a long time.
Doomsday focuses on the multiverse stories that have unfolded over the past seven years. It also explores the three phases the MCU has gone through since Avengers: Endgame came out and became the second-highest-grossing film ever.
In this film, it will bring almost every major character across the MCU to face the most complex villain in Marvel history, Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr., who fans know for his role as Iron Man.
What Does This Trailer Offer Fans?
Arriving in theaters on December 18, 2026,Avengers: Doomsday marks the return of the Russo Brothers to direct a bigger multiverse battle. The film features a mix of heroes, including Earth-616’s Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and Fox’s original X-Men.
Heroes from all different Marvel Universes come together to face the dark magic threat posed by Downey Jr., who takes on the sinister armor of Doctor Doom.
The trailer starts with an urgent warning from Doctor Doom. His Eastern European accent evokes Doom’s origins, as he is the ruler of Latveria. In the trailer, he has his classic look; he wears a green robe over his infamous silver armor. This design was inspired by Marvel’s “Secret Wars” comics.
Doom’s warning about an unstoppable threat shows new MCU viewers that he is more than just a villain. He isn’t only after power and control; he wants to protect reality from a bigger disaster. This is similar to Thanos’ goals in “Avengers: Infinity War”, but Doom’s mission carries even greater stakes since he’s trying to stop the destruction of an entire universe.
Doom’s message suggests that he is the only one willing to take the risk to make a life-or-death decision that is needed to stop the multiverse from being destroyed. His plan may revolve around sacrificing or combining dying universes to restart and create a new reality.
The Destruction Of Earth-10005
Earth-10005 is the universe where FOX’s X-Men resided. In the trailer, one of the scenes shows Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters and also shows that the school is already falling apart before the main conflict begins.
The damaged gates and broken school sign suggest that the world has been suffering from a major disaster for some time, hinting that their universe might be nearing its end.
Meanwhile, inside the X-Mansion, Professor Xavier (Patrick Stewart) protects himself from a bright yellow flash/signal in the sky. This seems to be connected to an Incursion that makes two realities collide.
The trailer also gives us a quick look at two X-Men using their combat skills. We see Gambit (Channing Tatum) vs Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) as Gambit uses his kinetic energy explosive cards to compete with Shang-Chi’s ten rings.
Also, we see another mutant named Mystique (Rebecca Romijn) who uses her morphing/transformation powers to turn into her opponent Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) during their fight to confuse Yelena.
The sequence ends with the much-anticipated appearance of mutant Cyclops (James Marsden), wearing the classic blue and yellow X-Men suit. He screams as he fires his iconic optic blast into the sky. In the background, you can see parts of a massive Sentinel moving behind a thick cloud of smoke.
This could hint at another cosmic danger or a new multiverse threat.
Who Are The New Avengers?
In the trailer, we also get to see our new full team of the Avengers as they hold a meeting in the new Avengers Tower, where Thor (Chris Hemsworth) brings groups of divided heroes from all universes, including Sam Wilson’s Captain America (Anthony Mackie), Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), the Thunderbolts, and the Fantastic Four.
The scene highlights the expanding link between different universes, with the Fantastic Four joining the Avengers to lend their skills in the fight. Thor’s words about former heroes who were mightier but still lost in battle remind everyone that old rivalries don’t matter anymore.
These once divided teams must unite if they have any hope of facing this threat to the multiverse. The trailer hints at what might be one of Marvel Studios’ biggest crossover events yet.
Though many details about Doctor Doom’s plan and the multiverse’s fate are still unknown, the first look shows that Avengers: Doomsday will unite iconic heroes, feature long-awaited team-ups, and present challenges unlike anything the MCU has seen before.
