The official trailer for the Michael Jackson biopic has been released by Universal and Lionsgate, revealing a first look at Colman Domingo and Nia Long as Joe and Katherine Jackson, respectively.
The new clip gives audiences their most detailed look yet at Michael, which stars Jaafar Jackson, the late singer’s nephew, in the lead role. The full trailer takes a closer look at Jackson’s parents and the supporting cast, including Kat Graham as Diana Ross. Michael follows Jackson’s rise in the music industry, from his early days with the Jackson 5 to his death at age in 2009.
The biopic has faced several delays, first shifting to an April 18th, 2025, release and later to October 3, 2025. Filmmakers delayed the movie in part to rework the third act, which required rewrites and reshoots. Reports last year suggested the studio might split the film into two parts, but the studio decided to release it as a single movie.
Who Are Nia Long and Colman Domingo?
Best Known for her comedic roles, Long has worked in film and television since the early 1990s.
