Invincible just wrapped up its fourth season, and while it had its ups and downs, fans cannot wait to get more. While Invincible is over for now, there are still plenty of new shows airing now for superhero fans to be excited for while they await the fifth season. With shows like The Boys airing on the same day as Invincible and even a new Star Wars animated series, there has never been a better time to be a nerd.
‘Invincible’ Season Four
Invincible’s fourth season was another massive success for Amazon, which has produced the series since season one. While the show remains a success, this season has received criticism from fans who have called out what they see as lazy animation, arguing that it does not match the quality expected of a popular show produced by a company as large as Amazon. Defenders of the series have said the animation shortcuts are likely due to limited time and a small animation team; however, many viewers are not satisfied with this explanation and believe more of the budget should be allocated to animation rather than to casting celebrities in voice roles, even minor ones.

While the animation was a big issue, it was not the only controversy this season. The fourth episode of the season received the lowest rating in series history, with fans growing irritated with side stories that they don’t feel are relevant to the plot. However, the following week the series immediately came back and received one of its highest ratings ever, with a 9.8 on IMDB, and this exceptionally high score was then surpassed with episode seven receiving a 9.9.
New Shows Out Now
The final episode of season four has just released, meaning Invincible will be gone for a while. However, the series has been greenlit for a fifth season, with an expected release in 2027. Luckily, there are still plenty of great shows to catch up on during the long wait for the next season.
Prime Video
Invincible fans will not have to give up the hype every Wednesday for new episodes as the final season of The Boys, also airing on Prime Video, has been releasing every Wednesday alongside Invincible. These two series have been at the top of the superhero-show totem pole for quite some time thanks to their equally dark take on how superheroes might look in the real world. The fifth season of The Boys will serve as the series finale, and with its signature gory, satirical tone, fans can expect the show to go out in a big way.
Disney+
More traditional superhero fans also have something to look forward to, as new episodes of Daredevil: Born Again season two are releasing on Disney+. The reboot of the 2015 Daredevil, which brings back lead actors like Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio, is now part of MCU continuity and has received critical acclaim, becoming the second-highest-rated Marvel show on IMDb, behind only the original series.
Disney isn’t just delivering for superhero fans but for all nerds, with fan-favorite Star Wars character Darth Maul receiving his own animated series. Maul – Shadow Lord follows the former Sith as he leaves his past behind and takes control of a crime syndicate in the shadow of the Galactic Empire. Maul: Shadow Lord also sees the return of Sam Witwer as the voice of Maul. Witwer has gained popularity among Star Wars fans since first voicing Starkiller in The Force Unleashed video games. Since then, he has worked on numerous Star Wars projects, and fans have grown to love him for the passion he brings to the franchise.

It will be some time before we get new episodes of Invincible, but until then, there are plenty of things to look forward to. Superhero fans are already having a great year, and it will only get better. Avengers: Doomsday will release this December, alongside Dune: Part Three, and Disney has confirmed that they will be re-releasing Avengers: Endgame in theaters prior to the release of Doomsday.
