One thing I love about the summer is trying out new styles. I always encourage black women to experiment with their hair. There are so many styles we can do! Here are a few styles I love:
Wash And Go
Wash and Go’s are my favorite go to style for the summer! I love wearing my afro and this style makes it super easy. It takes me around an hour to do. It keeps the hair off the neck so you don’t get too hot. I only use leave-in conditioner, gel, and water for mine, but it depends on the texture of your hair.
Bubble Braids
Bubble Braids were the first style I did to get out of my comfort zone. So, they have a special place in my heart. This style works best on blown dried hair. When feeding the hair between your braids, make sure they’re even on both sides! This way, each bubble is the same size. This style also looks great with different size braids!
Mini Twist
I love mini twist with extensions and natural hair. They are very simple if you are new to doing your own hair. You can also experiment with different up-dos with this hairstyle. I love doing this hairstyle with my natural hair then putting on curlers. It makes for a great afro when you take out the twist!
French Curls
French Curls will always have their moment during the summertime! This style does take time so make sure you set aside a day or two to do it. Most beauty supply stores will have hair you specifically for this style. While this style is mostly done with braids, I have seen girls do twist instead. I recommend twist if braiding is too difficult for you. Both come out super cute!
Miracle Knots

Miracle Knots have recently popped into social media, and people have been loving it. I have a hard time feeding in hair, and this style eliminates that problem. You can use straight hair, curly hair, or crochet hair as your extensions!
Boho
If there’s one way to switch up a hairstyle, it’s to add boho. Boho is when you add curls or hair to a hairstyle. For example, there are boho braids, faux locs, twist, bobs, and more. The style is similar to miracle knots with the added hair.
