Rock n’ Roll Hall of Famer Dave Grohl shook the rock world on September 10 when he announced that he had recently fathered a child out of wedlock. Considering Grohl has long been heralded as not only one of the most talented but also one of the nicest men in rock, the news came as a shock.
Rising to fame as the drummer for Nirvana, Grohl was front and center as one of the three members of the most influential rock band of the 90s. After the passing of Kurt Cobain and the disbanding of Nirvana, Grohl went on to found the Foo Fighters, a band that still fills arenas to this day.
Grohl has consistently been dubbed one of the nicest men in rock n roll. An article from Rayo listed numerous reasons why Grohl has earned that reputation. This includes his work with multiple charities, such as Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission, where he worked for 16 hours to make meals for those in need. Grohl has also shared the stage with young fans, broken up fights at shows, and squashed his long-standing feud with Courtney Love, widowed wife of Kurt Cobain. Grohl got married in 2003 to Jordyn Blum, with whom he has three kids and is frequently seen, including attempting the viral dance to “Apple” by Charli XCX with his daughter.
All of this wholesomeness made Grohl’s infidelity announcement all the more shocking. The announcement was posted to Grohl’s personal Instagram.

While there have been false claims and rumors as to who the mother of Grohl’s new child is, nothing has been confirmed. According to E News, Blum was seen without her wedding ring following the announcement, leading some fans to speculate that Grohl’s desire to regain the trust of his wife may not be going to plan.
Grohl’s other behavior with women has been called into question following the announcement. Most prominent among these is his relationship with adult entertainer Annaliese Neilsen. According to the New York Post, the rock star would often visit Neilsen’s house and even pay her bills for her. Grohl’s downfall serves as a reminder about idolization of celebrities, and how little we truly know about them under the surface.
