The partnership you never knew the world needed…or maybe even wanted…just hit grocery stores: Coca-Cola and Oreos are now besties (for a limited time).

Just N Life was lucky enough to get our hands on the Oreos before they made their public debut on September 9, and gave them a try so that you don’t have to.
The package is all-black with a classic Coke bottle design made out of black, white, and red Oreos. A QR code on the packaging brings you to a page showing off the newest besties, as well as a link to Spotify to create a new playlist based on questions about your own bestie.

The Oreos themselves are made of a seemingly normal original Oreo cookie, a red cookie with multiple fun designs, and white creme. When you open the package, the smell of Coke is slightly overwhelming and pretty pungent, but after the first few seconds, the intensity wafts away.

At first bite, the taste was mostly “normal” and not overwhelmingly different than regular Oreos. But behind the initial “normal” taste of the Oreo is a bit of the classic spice that comes with Coke.
When split apart, the black Oreo cookie tasted mostly like an original Oreo, despite the product description claiming there to be Coca-Cola syrup in it. The red cookie has three designs: Two classic Coke bottles clinking, one of the “Coke” logo, and one with the “Coca-Cola” logo. This cookie is basically just a red version of the Golden Oreo — though there were more undertones of Coke in the red cookie than in the black cookie. The creme tastes mostly normal, but has popping candy in it to mimic the soda’s bubbles.

Though the three parts are not individually interesting, they create a subtle Coke flavor when combined. Surprisingly, the taste was light enough that it created a really interesting and fun cookie. If you’re someone who finds an original Oreo to be too much, this toned-down version would be good for you.
The best part is the Coke-flavored aftertaste. It’s equally subtle to the flavor while eating the cookie but creates a very satisfying experience.
Though this may not be your first choice of Oreo flavor, it’s definitely worth trying. Feeling adventurous? You can also give Coca-Cola’s new Oreo-flavored-Coke a taste.
