Eclipse Energy: Expect Fated Changes This Virgo Season

We are officially in Virgo season! This season was ushered in with a new moon in Virgo that occurred on August 23. What’s even more rare about this Virgo season is that it will be concluded with another Virgo new moon on September 21. In addition, we will have the iconic experience of two eclipses before the end of Virgo season. Here’s what this eclipse energy will bring forth in the backdrop of Virgo season.

Virgo Background

Virgo is the sixth sign in the astrological zodiac wheel. It is ruled by the planet Mercury, which is known for communication, transportation, and thought processes. As a result, Virgo is a very mental sign that focuses on the precision of even the most minute details. Virgo is also an earth sign. Earth energy is the most grounded compared to fire, water, and air signs. However, Virgo is also mutable in expression, which makes it the most flexible in comparison to the other earth signs.

The Virgo symbol is a maiden holding grains, which was traditionally associated with the harvest season. In modern times, it is associated with purification energy since that is the Latin word for virgin. This aligns with Virgo’s stereotype for seeking purification by constantly working on improving themselves and others around them.

Virgo is also associated with your overall physical health. As a result, paying attention to your body is a big theme to expect this season. Focusing on exercise, your nutrition, and getting enough sleep are important practices to prioritize. Since Virgo is known for productivity and daily routines, this is the perfect season to implement your workout schedules or any health regimens. In terms of body parts, Virgo rules your abdomen, intestines, liver and spleen. Therefore, you should prioritize your gut health and pay special attention to your gut intuition.

Virgo Characteristics

Some notable Virgo traits are productivity, precision, and being of service to others. It is no surprise that back-to-school season occurs during Virgo season. School requires routines and productivity, making Virgo energy the perfect backdrop. Virgo is also associated with your work life and service to others or the community. As a result, Virgos can be some of the most selfless people—ready and willing to sacrifice for others, sometimes to their detriment. This can lead to extreme workaholism because their sense of self can be easily tied to how much they do for others.

Virgos also prioritize self-improvement which gets them a bad reputation for being “fixers”. Their desire to help others makes them incredible healers–especially through changed habits. They focus on the specific details and are very observant of other people’s behaviors. Their unmatched precision can be very useful when applied in the right context such as work or projects. However, it can also lead to an unhealthy fixation on things beyond their control. This can manifest in the desire to save people who don’t want to be saved.

Some unhealthy Virgo traits are people pleasing, victimhood, control issues, and being highly judgmental. Because Virgos strive to be the best version of themselves, they can easily project judgment onto those who lack self-awareness. They are some of the hardest workers, but this can result in overworking at the expense of their physical and mental health. They can also be very rigid about how they like things which leads to control issues. This Virgo season, it is important to find out where Virgo is in your birth chart and work on releasing these traits within that area of your life.

Virgo Astrological Transits

Lunar Eclipse

We already had a Virgo new moon at the beginning of Virgo Season which will coincide with the Virgo new moon at the end of this season. Whatever intentions or routines you embark on at this time will be reevaluated and further cemented at the end of Virgo season.

The next major astrological transit during this season will be a lunar eclipse. In astrology, eclipses are known to bring forth unexpected or fated changes that will lead to transformational growth. A lunar eclipse occurs during a full moon when the earth blocks the moon from the sun’s view.

The upcoming lunar eclipse on September 7 will be in the sign of Pisces. Pisces is the opposite sign of Virgo, known for your mental health, spirituality, dreams, sacrifice, solitude, and addictions. Those Piscean themes will be highlighted leading up to eclipse season, depending on where Pisces is in your birth chart. Since this lunar eclipse will be happening during a full moon, you will be releasing Piscean themes that no longer serve you.

The ruler of Pisces is Neptune, which will be retrograde in the sign of Aries. This will influence the energy of the eclipse by encouraging us to reflect on harmful self-indulgent habits. Unhealthy coping mechanisms such as drugs, sex, food, shopping, or alcohol will be brought to the forefront. This can also show up through unhealthy personal spiritual practices, whether its spiritual psychosis or toxic positivity. Whatever you may use to escape from reality, especially given the current political climate, will be addressed.

Another notable transit happening during this eclipse season is the north node in Pisces. In astrology, the north node represents the direction we are headed towards in this lifetime. Because eclipses bring fated changes, and the north node represents our destiny, these energies can bring forth life altering resets. Additionally, Saturn will also be retrograde in the sign of Pisces. With the moon, north node, and Saturn all in Pisces, the lunar eclipse will be a purging of any emotional baggage or karmic restrictions preventing us from reaching our highest potential.

Since the sun will be in Virgo and the moon will be in Pisces, the integration of these two opposing energies will also be prominent. For example, evaluating how your mental health is impacting your physical health could be highlighted. Or finding the balance between spirituality and practicality to attain your desired goals. Ultimately, you will have to sacrifice something first before you can usher in something new.

Solar Eclipse

A new beginning will be ushered in during the solar eclipse in Virgo on September 21. A solar eclipse occurs during a new moon when the moon blocks the earth from the sun’s view. New moons bring forth new beginnings and, in this case, both the sun and moon will be in Virgo. The themes associated with Virgo are your physical health, work life, daily routines/schedules, and pets. As a result, you may experience new changes surrounding those Virgo themes.

The ruler of Virgo is Mercury, which will also be in the sign of Virgo during this eclipse. This could highlight your communication and thought process as it pertains to Virgo matters. You may receive unexpected communication or drastically shift your mindset on productivity, work matters, and service to others. This may involve you setting strong boundaries with others or finding a healthy balance between work and personal life.

Since the sun, moon and Mercury will all be in the same sign, this Virgo energy will be amplified. The universe may force you to course correct when it pertains to health matters. This could involve improving your nutrition, getting health check-ups, or aligning more with your gut intuition. You may also begin a new job, change your daily routines, or even get a new pet. To sustain your new beginning, you will have to practice consistency by engaging in tangible action steps.

It is important to note that eclipse energy has a “shadow period” which can start and last weeks or months before and after the eclipse date. So even if you do not experience any changes on the exact dates of the eclipses, changes can still happen up to six months afterwards due to the lingering eclipse energy.
