Charli XCX has begun BRAT summer in Chicago, performing a special show at Radius on June 12. The performance was part of a short stint of shows that the pop star is doing to promote her recently released album BRAT. The sold-out Chicago show had a queue wrapping around for blocks as fans eagerly awaited Charli’s performance.
TikTok influencer Aliyah’s Interlude opened the show, performing her viral song “IT GIRL.” Charli later performed a 25-song set, including BRAT in its entirety along with a few more of her biggest and most iconic hits. See the full setlist here.
Charli XCX’s short tour of solo BRAT shows spans from June 12 to July 12, including dates in the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Poland, and Spain. Later this year, Charli will return to the U.S. for a much longer, 20-date run with Troye Sivan for the SWEAT Tour. The tour will include a stop in Chicago on September 30 at the United Center.
BRAT has quickly become a viral phenomenon and one of Charli XCX’s most successful albums to date. Critically, the records have done very well, with a 95/100 on Metacritic and five stars from The Guardian. The record also produced some of Charli’s highest chart success, with her biggest opening sales weeks in the U.S. and the U.K. In the U.K., BRAT debuted at #2 behind Taylor Swift’s Tortured Poet’s Department and #3 in the U.S. behind Taylor and Billie Eilish’s HIT ME HARD AND SOFT.
Charli later released a deluxe version of the album titled, BRAT and it’s the same but there’s three more songs so it’s not. She also released a remix of “girl, so confusing” featuring Lorde on June 21, continuing the hype for BRAT and highlighting the two artists squashing a decade-long feud.
