On August 31, the Love Island USA Season 8 reunion premiered. Co-hosted by Ariana Madix and Andy Cohen, it was giving messy. While islanders debated amongst themselves, discussions about online harassment were addressed. It was the “mean girl” behavior from one islander that had many fans talking.
Kayda Bosse from Love Island USA Season 8 has been receiving intense backlash following her behavior at the reunion. During the highly anticipated episode, viewers accused Kayda of “mean girl behavior,” and of having a defensive and combative attitude throughout the night.
When Andy asked whether Kayda and Zach Georgiou were dating, she said yes. Andy followed up by asking if they were exclusive, to which Kayda responded, “Yes, that’s what we said in the villa,” and that was only 15 minutes into the reunion.
Later in the reunion, Kayda made a harsh remark to fellow islander Jaiden Bacciocco. Kayda questioned and criticized Jaiden for sleeping with Caleb McDaniel after feeling led on.
While catching up viewers on the relationship status of Jaiden and Caleb’s relationship. Caleb stated that they tried post-villa, but things were not working between the two. Caleb claimed he communicated with Jaiden about their relationship. Jaiden disagreed, saying that after the first night post-villa, there was no trying and that Caleb was not direct with her.
Later on they happened to see each other in the Hamptons and ended up sleeping together. Kayda then questioned Jaiden, saying, “Hooking up is a two-person thing; if he was treating you like that, why’d you f*ck him again?”
Kayda was immediately met with backlash from the audience, fellow islanders, and co-host Madix.
Jaiden stated “thats a crazy question” and that “we’ve all been there” with Madix agreeing stating that Kayda’s comment was a little “harsh.”
“It’s really not that harsh, babe,” Kayda responded to Madix, rolling her eyes, which fans found to be disrespectful.
Titi also called Kayda’s comment “crazy,” stating she had no place saying that to Jaiden.
Following the reunion, fans took to social media accusing Kayda of bullying and rude behavior. Past videos of Kayda from high school also resurfaced online adding to the backlash. While Madix has responded to the backlash Kayda has recieved by fans. Madix has clarified that are good and took no offense and that her comments are not a place for hate or negativity regarding the islanders.
Kayda has lost over 130,000 followers across TikTok and Instagram, including Singer Kehlani who recently unfollowed her on Instagram. The nonprofit Step Up Women’s Network has since removed Kayda from their post and disabled comments on its page.
Kayda has since denied being a bully, on an episode of In Your Dreams with Owen Thiele where she stated that she was never a bully.
“I don’t think I was. I know I wasn’t. I know for a fact I wasn’t,” Kayda said. “I just stand on business and people don’t like that.”
