Loyalty Continues to Be Tested in Paradise S10E7

As a reminder, if you want to check out what went down in previous weeks, you can check here!

Who’s Left in Paradise?

As alluded to in the promo last week, this week’s episode was all about the drama between Bailey, Jeremy, and Brian. Though the drama is a continuation from previous weeks, it all starts following this week’s relationship test.

The test is seeking out compatibility and understanding secrets. Each contestant is closed in a booth, with the doors facing inside a circle. All they can hear is Jesse’s voice and some music. The entire group will be asked questions, and the couple with the most matching answers will get to receive the first rose of the rose ceremony. Then, couples with the most matching answers would get to secretly meet and decide if they will pursue each other. It’s a bit confusing, but it makes more sense as it goes along. At one point, Spencer says, “Immunity in the next rose ceremony means another week with Jess,” as if we needed another reason to love these two together. Unlike last week, the entire group would vote on who would have to leave Paradise.

Some of the questions included:

  • “What are your favorite role-playing characters in the bedroom?”
  • “What is the best time of day to have sex?”
  • “How do you recharge after a long day?”
  • “How do you handle conflict in a relationship?”
  • “What is the biggest dealbreaker?”
  • “How do you define a successful relationship?”

While we got the chance to see some of the answers, and there were some funny and interesting answers, the best part was getting a chance to see how some people matched up. For the question, “How do you recharge after a long day?” both Andrew and Alexe wrote, “rot in bed,” making them feel in sync.

The couple with the most matching answers was, shockingly, Jonathan and Lea. In a confessional, Lea said, “We are literally the only ones not in a relationship, and we are the most compatible? You freaking couples couldn’t get more answers correct?”

Then, contestants were shown who they matched with, so they could see if there was anyone else they should secretly meet up with to pursue. For the most part, nothing came of the matches.

Allyshia and Andrew matched to which he said, “I’m really in it with Alexe—I don’t really care to be doing secret rendezvous.” Parisa and Dale matched. Kathy saluted Kim as just a friend when she that they matched. Jeremy and Alexe matched. Kat and Brian matched and declared they’re friends. Lea and Jeremy matched and Lea said, “Well, I love Bailey and I love you guys together.” Bailey and Spencer matched and then host Jesse Palmer told her she had another match.

This is finally where the drama comes in.

Bailey and Brian match and though she laughs about it, she does say she’s thrown off, following Brian’s throw-away comment, “Consider it.” Brian says in a confessional, “Based on what I know, I don’t think it would be a bad idea for her to consider other people,” referring to what he’s heard Jeremy say.

Most people who matched during the game firmly stood in the friend zone. And while that’s where Brian and Bailey stand, too, Brian decides to try to meet with her.

A quick rewind: in the episode following Susie Evans’ departure from the show, Jeremy says he regrets his decision to choose Bailey over Susie. He thought that because Justin Glaze would give Susie his rose, Jeremy would have more time to continue to get to know Susie, following their whirlwind date together. However, after Justin tried to offer Susie his rose, she didn’t accept, and they both left.

Jeremy, regretting that Susie was not still there, begged the producers to let him call Susie so he could ask her to come back and stay. When she picks up, she tells him that she can’t come back—it would be too difficult emotionally. Jeremy then opens up about the phone call to other people, including Brian. At one point, he even tells Brian that if Susie came back, Jeremy would propose to her on the spot. Brian, seeing how all in Bailey is on her relationship with Jeremy, feels like he needs to share this information with her. Based on what we’ve already seen from Jeremy, he would never have told Bailey about Susie, and she would’ve found out at the same time that we did.

Brian sends a cryptic card to Bailey that reads, “I just want to talk.” He also says in a confessional, “This could bite me in the ass.”

Bailey, not knowing the context to the conversation with Brian, starts to spiral, worried about what Jeremy would think, worried about Parisa, not understanding what is going on. Parisa, sitting with Bailey while she’s getting ready, suspects Brian might have reached out to Bailey, but Bailey won’t tell her.

With the secret rendezvous all set up and no idea if Bailey would show up, Brian opens the bottle of champagne and pours himself a glass to wait. Finally deciding she wasn’t coming, Brian returns to the group. Parisa asks him what’s going on, suspicious about him possibly meeting with Bailey. Brian also pulls Parisa aside to talk to her.

Brian explains the situation to a spiraling Parisa, thinking Brian was asking Bailey how to break up with Parisa. She realizes the enormity of the situation and gets the full story from Brian.

Meanwhile, Bailey talks to Jeremy before he goes to sleep so that, in her words, he doesn’t think she’s going on a secret rendezvous. She explains the situation, and a sleepy Jeremy reassures her.

Finally, Brian comes to find Bailey. The producers show us here that a few other people, including Alexe and Spencer, tried to convince Jeremy that he needed to tell Bailey about Susie. Although again, we know Jeremy would never tell Bailey. Brian, at first hesitant, finally shares what he’s heard and what Jeremy has said to him. Bailey, rightfully, breaks down into sobs, asking why Jeremy would do this to her.

Bailey then goes back to Jeremy’s room to wake him up and asks him about Susie. He gives some non-answers, including, “At the time I was just playing Paradise and now I’m here for Bailey.” It seems almost as if Bailey forgives him and is more upset that everyone else knew and didn’t tell her what happened.

She leaves his room, and, by the way, he doesn’t even try to follow her to make sure she’s ok. He just turns over and goes back to sleep.

Of course, because the gossip train stops for no one, and everyone else starts asking questions about what’s going on. Why did Brian want to talk to Bailey? What did Brian say to Bailey? What is happening now? It’s incredibly uncomfortable, especially for Brian, who is now questioning if he should have told Bailey and worrying about his future in Paradise with Parisa.

Somehow, what should have focused on what Jeremy did to Bailey, ended up focused on Brian’s choice to tell Bailey what everyone was already talking about.

While the rumor mill turns, Jeremy decides he’s going back to sleep. However, he says, “I didn’t think this was a big deal.” However, some may disagree with that. To be fair, he is in a situation where he could get engaged to someone who is not the person he said would propose to him on the spot a few days before.

Day 14

The next day, after everyone sleeps on it, we revisit the drama again. Jeremy says he regrets how he handled the situation, saying, “…technically this is something I could have prevented.” Bailey says that she packed but hasn’t decided yet if she should stay or go, and Jeremy realizes he needs to make sure Bailey knows that he is invested in her.

Yet, beyond the situation between Jeremy and Bailey, somehow, Brian’s involvement in the situation calls his character and integrity into question. Though everyone knew about Jeremy’s call to Susie, no one knew how to tell Bailey, and Brian felt like he needed to tell her. But the men thought he should have talked to Jeremy first, citing “bro code.” The women were also upset, questioning if they could trust him. This leads to everyone talking about who they should vote to go home.

Beyond the Brian/Jeremy/Bailey drama (and some deciding that Brian should go home), others, like Allyshia, question if Kim and Faith’s relationship is real.

Finally, we get to the Cocktail Party. Brian got completely dragged through the mud, and Parisa thinks everyone else is going to use their relationship as a shield for whatever else could happen to them. She then spends her time trying to convince everyone else that Brian was actually concerned about Bailey and was not just “trying to play the game.”

After all of this drama, many on social media voiced their opinions about everyone else’s reaction to Brian. Bartender Wells Adams voices those opinions.

“Brian is the only guy doing the right thing here,” Adams says.

Rose Ceremony

Before the Rose Ceremony, each person gets the chance to vote on which man will not receive a rose. Many people vote for Brian, and many people vote for Kim. Noticeably, we don’t see anyone voting for Jeremy, despite his potential disloyalty to Bailey.

  • Jonathon gives his rose to Lea, as expected, saying that this showed them they were supposed to be here. He also says, “You’re welcome,” as a callback to last week’s rose ceremony.
  • Spencer gives his rose to Jess, “always” (in her words).
  • Andrew gives his rose to Alexe, citing her moral code and their teamwork.
  • Dale gives his rose to Kat
  • Sean gives his rose to Allyshia, saying, “I can’t quite describe how great I feel with you.”
  • Jeremy gives his rose to Bailey.
  • Keith gives his rose to Kathy after she says, “Love can mean different things for different ages. … Keith and I are sharing lives we already have.”
  • Finally, the last rose goes to Brian, who gives it to Parisa, though he acknowledges that he put a bullseye on his back.

Kim and Faith are unfortunately going home, with tears from them both and nothing but good things to say about the other person. Though nothing has come out to determine if they’re still together or not, we’ll probably find out soon.

And, just because the week is over, this doesn’t mean the Brian/Jeremy/Bailey drama is going anywhere anytime soon.
