If you are a fan of a Hallmark holiday romance movie but want to spend the last month of 2024 hitting your Goodreads reading goal, we are right there with you. Luckily, this list of our five favorite holiday romance books is keeping us entertained right through Christmas. Because as we all know, the best way to spread Christmas cheer is by reading loud for all to hear!
One Day in December
When Laurie is on the bus home from her dead-end job at a hotel, she spots the most beautiful boy she’s ever seen. He sees her and immediately realizes he needs to get on the bus, but he’s too late, and she’s heartbroken. She spends the next year searching for him alongside her best friend and roommate, Sarah. One night at Laurie and Sarah’s holiday party, Sarah introduces Laurie to her new boyfriend whom she is prepared to marry—Jack O’Mara. Only then does Laurie learn that her best friend found “bus boy” before she did. While the tropes in this novel may be slightly divisive, there's no denying Josie Silver's amazing writing skills. You will find yourself rooting for morally grey characters and not being able to put the book down. Because yes, all these characters are flawed and totally unconscionable...but this isn’t real life!
Lovelight Farms
When Stella Bloom realizes she has one chance to save the Christmas tree farm she's always loved, she takes it. She enters an Instagram contest to promote the farm as a romantic holiday destination by lying and saying that she owns the farm with her boyfriend. Winning the contest would ensure Lovelight Farms' freedom from financial problems and a plethora of publicity, but only if she can scrap together a boyfriend in time for the contest. That's where her best friend Luka Peters comes in; as her fake boyfriend, they can hopefully save the farm together, and maybe find love at the same time. If you love fake dating and friends-to-lovers romance novels, this book will not disappoint. With its cozy warm feeling, you'll leave wanting more... and luckily there is more, as this is just the first novel in a four-book series!
Kiss Her Once for Me
When Andrew proposes a fake marriage to Ellie to allow him to receive his inheritance and for her to feel financial relief and have company, they go all in. She plans to spend the holidays with him at his family cabin, but when Ellie meets Andrew's sister, they discover they have a history together. Ellie fell in love with Jack one Christmas ago, and now she has to decide if preserving the safety of their fake marriage is more important than finding true love. If you love a fake marriage and sapphic romance tale, Alison Cochrun's writing will absolutely satisfy your holiday romance itch.
A Very Merry Bromance
If you've never heard of the Bromance Book Club series, you are seriously missing out. The series centers on the Bromance Book Club, a Nashville-based romance book club made solely of men who share a close-knit bond. In this Christmas Bromance special, Colton Wheeler, a country music star, is trying to push past someone he fell in love with a year ago, Gretchen Winthrop, with the help of the Bromance Book Club. Gretchen, an immigration attorney, seeks to help her family and in doing so is forced to propose a business opportunity to none other than Colton. He agrees, only under the condition that they go on three dates before Christmas. Will Gretchen get over feeling like a Scrooge? And will this holiday romance lead to the real deal?
In a Holidaze
Maelyn Jones, leaving her life up to fate since this is the last Christmas she will spend with her family in their snowy Utah cabin, wakes up from a car crash on a plane...back to Utah. With a Groundhog Day-like time loop and a love story that will have you giggling and kicking your feet, Christina Lauren has done it again with their epic romance novels.
