Straight From the Pods: First Date Questions to Ask Based on Season 7 of ‘Love Is Blind’

Everyone gets nervous on a first date. Not everyone, however, can easily smile through the feeling of butterflies in their stomach and present an air of confidence and intrigue. If you find your nerves getting the best of you on a first date, remember: the key is to keep talking. And because people love talking about themselves, that’s exactly what you should talk about! Avoid awkward silence by using these tried, tested and true questions from the men and women on Season 7 of Netflix’s drama-filled, reality TV dating series, Love Is Blind. We’ve gathered some of the contestants’ best icebreakers and thought-provoking prompts after many hours of binge-watching research. Ask a few of these questions on your next first date and watch how quickly you become two peas in a pod. 

Icebreakers

1. Ashley Adionser – “Do you have a random talent?”
2. Leo Braudy – “What’s your favorite Trader Joe’s snack?”
   • Tara Zafar said, “I literally live on their overnight oats,” and offered up her personal recipe of adding in Biscoff mix, blueberries, and strawberries for a taste of sweetness.
3. Bohdan Olinares – “If you went to a party with friends, what’s your go-to party story?”
   • His story? During his time in the marine corps, he came face-to-face with a camel that tried to stomp him out. Scary, but we’re happy he’s OK.
4. Marissa George – “Are you a handy man? Do you like fixing things?,” and most importantly, “Have you ever mounted a TV?”
5. Nick Dorka – “Why are you in the pods…?”
   • We recommend switching out the phrase, “in the pods,” with one word, “dating?”
6. Ashley A. – “What’s on your bucket list?”
   • Cue the part where we gush a little: Tyler Francis answered with skydiving and Ashley instantly got excited. She said that she’d want to go skydiving the day before her wedding day and Tyler was down to do it. Is there unreleased Love Is Blind couple’s skydiving footage we don’t know about?
7. Marissa G. – “What advice would your parents (add in: siblings or friends) give me regarding dating you?”
8. Brittney Wisniewski – “What are your first impressions of me?” 

Deeper Questions

1. Monica Davis – “When was your last serious relationship?,” followed by, “How long did you date for?”
2. Brittany W. – “How would you split the bills? Would it be 50/50?”
3. Leo B. – “Is there anything you have a hard time talking about?”
4. Marissa G. – “What’s something that like you feel very strongly about that might be controversial?”
   • Bohdan O. said what we have all been thinking: anyone that works 40 hours a week should have food, housing and access to medical care.

Questions to Ask After a Great Conversation and a Few Drinks

1. Taylor Krause – “Based on what you know about me, what movie do you think describes me?”
   • We can’t tell if Garrett Josemans, her fiancé (soon to be husband?) was joking when he answered, “Shrek.”
2. Hannah Jiles – “Would you ever get my name tattooed on you?”
   • Disclaimer: this one might come off a little strong for a first date…
3. Ashley A: “How do you feel about having each other’s phone password?”
   • It’s important to note that Tyler F. said it’s okay with him. It’s also important to note the disclaimer in question 2; that being said, you should definitely ask this question anytime after the first date.
4. Nick D. – “Do you think, based on what we talked about, your friends would like me?”
