10 Feel-Good Movies to Watch This Summer

Theater Camp follows a group of summer camp counselors in Upstate New York who are desperately trying to keep their theater camp open. When the owner’s “business influencer” son inherits the camp, he and the counselors have to get over their differences and come together to save their beloved summer home.

An absolute classic, The Parent Trap is the story of two identical twins, Annie and Hallie, reuniting at camp. Neither knew the other existed, having been separated at birth and each raised by one of the parents, so they team up to switch places to get to know their other parent, and try to get them to fall in love again.  

On the fictional Greek island of Kalokairi, mother and daughter Donna and Sophie Sheridan live a wonderful life. Sophie, who is about to get married, wants her biological father to walk her down the aisle. The problem is, she doesn’t know who he is. She reveals to her friends she invited three men from her mother’s past to her wedding who could be her dad. Chaos ensues when Donna has to face her past and get ready for the wedding. A perfect summer watch filled with laughs, music, and lots of sun!

After a strong storm sweeps the town of Baybridge, FL, best friends Claire and Hailey discover a mermaid named Aquamarine in a pool. When the three bond and become friends Aquamarine reveals she ran away from home because her father was forcing her into an arranged marriage. She says the only way to break the engagement is proving to her father that true love exists. Hailey and Claire agree to hide her and keep her safe while she tries to woo the local lifeguard Raymond and experience true love.  

The Goonies is an adventure film that follows a group of kids whose homes are in danger of foreclosure due to an expanding country club. When the kids come across an old treasure map they decide this could be their last chance to save their homes. An adventure featuring monsters, criminals, booby traps, pirates and more The Goonies is a feel-good summer movie for all ages. 

Following the very successful but lonely Stella, How Stella Got Her Groove Back tells a story of finding balance in one’s life.  When Stella’s son leaves to spend two weeks with his dad, she decides it’s time for a vacation and invites her friend Delilah to go on a trip to Jamaica with her. There Stella meets Winston, a young chef’s assistant, and begins a relationship with him. As obstacles keep blocking her way, Stella must find a way to make room in her life for love and relationships, things that she never prioritized before. 

Cheaper by the Dozen 2 follows the Baker as they find themselves at odds with another family during their summer vacation at the lake. With many of the Baker kids moving away, Tom Baker is determined to make this the best summer ever, but with his archnemesis staying across the lake, the summer quickly turns to chaos. 

Set during the summer of 1962, a new kid in town is befriended by a group of young baseball players who invite him to join the team. A great summer of baseball and shenanigans quickly sours when a Babe Ruth signed baseball, a prized possession of one of their step-dads, lands on the other side of the fence. 

When salesmen Billy and Nick are laid-off, Billy applies to a Google internship for both of them to start a new kind of life. Although they know nothing about technology, they are accepted into the program due to their unique interview answers. After arriving at Google, the two find themselves completely lost in the world of coding and technology and twice everyone else’s age. Being the laughingstock of the internship, Billy and Nick find themselves on a team with the rest of the misfits. In order to win a full-time job at Google, Billy, Nick, and their team must compete in an array of challenges throughout the summer to showcase their intellect and skills. Billy and Nick work to earn their team’s respect and trust while the team learns there is more to life than competition. 

Is there anything more summer than High School Musical 2? Probably not. The movie follows the beloved characters Troy and Gabriella as they, and the rest of the Wildcats, get summer jobs at Sharpay and Ryan’s country club. When Troy is invited to perform in the club’s annual talent show, rivalries form, tensions become high, and relationships are tested. Comprised of music, sunbathing, frolicking around on the golf course, and the beautiful pool, High School Musical 2 is a wonderful way to beat the heat and enjoy a summer night.
